...but I want you to show me GRACE!

...but I want you to show me GRACE!

Tonight, Amanda asked the boys to start getting undressed for bath.

Now, we have been working really hard on being consistent with the boys obeying the first time. Nathan didn't obey even though he clearly heard the request.

Amanda calmly said, "Nathan, you didn't obey me when I asked you to start getting ready for bath. You have to have a swat."

Nathan promptly covered his behind while trying to wriggle away and said, "...but I want you to show me GRACE!"

Wow. What we learn from those two little boys continues to amaze me.

Amanda and I tried to cover our laughter when Nathan said this because it was so cute but it got me thinking - how many times have I disobeyed the Lord and then when the consequences/punishment arrived have asked for His grace?

How many times do I truly deserve my just rewards and don't get them because of the Lord's graciousness?

God shows us so much grace that we don't deserve. He is a just God, but He is also loving, patient, kind, and yes, gracious.

I do hope that my boys are learning to obey, but more than just obedience for the sake of obedience. I hope and pray that they are learning of the true GRACE that can only be found in Christ, and that HE is the reason for our obedience.

I hope I continue to learn that lesson too.
